this flag is 1/2 inches thick, 23 inches wide, 36 inches long, weighs 9 pounds, and comes with a French cleat on the back for hanging. It has 15 stars, and 15 stripes. Alot of people don't realize that after the war for independence in 1776, Americans fought the British again in the war of 1812. On Sept 13, 1814, British warships attacked Fort McHenry in Baltimore harbor, relentlessly pounding the American fort for 25 hours. This is the flag that was flying over the fort. Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the national anthem, (the star-spangled banner) while checking to make sure the flag had not fallen.
